Holiday Pest Prevention Tips
The holidays bring family gatherings, decorations, food, and plenty of activity around the house. They can also give pests easy access to food, water, and shelter. A few simple steps can help keep them out.
1. Inspect Holiday Decorations Before Bringing Them Inside
Stored decorations make great hiding spots for insects, spiders, and even scorpions. Open boxes outside or in the garage, and shake out artificial greenery and fabric decorations before bringing them into your living areas.
2. Store Food Properly
Holiday meals and treats can attract ants, cockroaches, and other pests. Keep dry goods in tightly sealed containers, clean up crumbs and spills right away, and don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight.
3. Keep Cardboard and Clutter Under Control
Cardboard boxes and clutter give pests a place to hide. Break down delivery boxes quickly instead of stacking them indoors. Keep storage areas organized so it’s easier to spot signs of pests.
4. Seal Gaps Around Doors and Windows
Pests can get in through small openings around doors, windows, and utility lines. Check your weatherstripping and door sweeps, repair damaged screens, and seal gaps around the outside of your home.
5. Keep Outdoor Areas Tidy
Leaves, debris, and items stored against the house give pests shelter. Clear them away, trim plants back from your walls, and don’t let standing water collect around your property.
Enjoy the Holidays With Peace of Mind
This season, we’re here to help keep your home comfortable, protected, and pest-free, so you can focus on what matters most: making memories with family and friends. If you spot something unwelcome, our team is just a call away.
From everyone at Rudy’s Termite & Pest Control, thank you, Coachella Valley, for being part of our story for 35 years.
